Training camps done!

The Firetails
The Firetails completed our fifth and final training camp in Australia on 14 June - the wettest day Sydney has had in five years. We were fortunate to spend the morning training in the rain on artificial turf - great preparation for Japan as we will be playing on several artificial turf fields and it is the rainy season there!

Firetails (Australia) & Whaitiri (New Zealand)
The NZ women's team joined us for the Saturday and Sunday of the camp. This was an excellent opportunity for us to play against another quality women's team and also one of our first opportunities to play together as an entire team. The Firetails were undefeated during those games. We entertained a small crowd during a showcase game on the Saturday afternoon before drawing the winners for our fund-raising raffle. Winners are in the process of being contacted - thanks to everyone who supported us by buying tickets or stubby coolers or stickers.

The team is doing our last sprint sessions and pod training this week. The next time we will all be together will be in Tokyo on 29 June.

Our pre tour schedule is:

29 June (Fri) - play Osaka University Team & Chukyo University Team (Naughty Kids) in Tokyo
30 June (Sat) - play Osaka University Team & Mud/Huck combined team & Ebimirin in Tokyo
1 July (Sun) - play Mud/Huck combined team & Japanese women's masters team in Tokyo
5 July (Thu) - play Team Canada in Sakai

The World Ultimate Championships run in Sakai from 7-14 August. The team is excited about playing the showcase game against the host nation in the opening round of the women's division on 7 August.

Scott George was kind enough to take some photos from the games against the kiwis. They are up on his website:
